Data Eradication and Tape Disposal Services
Media Recovery has over 30 years of experience providing secure and reliable data eradication, data destruction, and tape disposal services. With the numerous regulations that now surround the use, security, and storage of data, companies must be extremely careful, and highly proactive, in how they dispose of data after it is no longer needed. Not all data eradication, data destruction, and tape disposal services are forthright about their processes and procedures for data destruction. Some companies offer data destruction by destroying the tape media, but this does not erase the data on the tapes. Some services claim to overwrite the data so it is unreadable, but then only rewrite part of the tape. And others use degaussing equipment that is not strong enough to erase data on today’s high-density media. Datacenter managers should exercise caution and extreme care when evaluating suppliers for data eradication.
Trusted by the largest Datacenters in the US, Media Recovery offers several highly reliable methods for your confidential data destruction, and safe and environmentally sound methods for disposal of any tapes.
100% Data Eradication and Tape Disposal — Degaussing Tape
Depending on customer requirements, Media Recovery can inventory, pull, and audit any tapes on a client site ready for eradication. Media Recovery can provide completely secure transport to the Media Recovery Operations Center, where an additional audit is conducted for verification purposes to insure all tapes have been accounted for and matches the audit list at your location.Media Recovery provides data eradication services for non-servo tapes, by utilizing a degausser rated at 4000 Oersteds (two times the normal recommended strength) to erase all data from every tape.
After data destruction, tapes can be disposed of in an environmentally sound manner, and a Certificate of Destruction can be supplied to the customer for the tapes destroyed.
100% Data Eradication and Tape Disposal — Servo Track Tape
Media Recovery provides a certified process for the 100% data eradication of servo track tapes. Our process ensures that every tape that enters our data eradication program is 100% drive-written end-to-end to guarantee complete data eradication.First, Media Recovery staff audits your tapes and provides you with an electronic file that contains the volser numbers for all tapes that are being pulled from the active library or off-site storage facility. Your tapes are then securely transported to our Operations Center for data eradication under strict controls. Next, your tapes are audited again upon arrival at our Operations Center and you receive another electronic file containing volser numbers for all tapes we receive. This practice verifies that all of your tapes are accounted for and have been received.
The high-density servo track tapes are overwritten with Media Recovery's proprietary code end-to-end, rendering any previous data completely unreadable. All tapes go through a Final Quality Control Inspection and Validation to ensure complete data eradication. Tapes are then immediately disposed of using safe and environmentally sound methods.
On-site or Off-site Disposal Services
When your organization requires off-site disposal services, Media Recovery has the knowledge, resources and experience to meet your needs. Off-site disposal services are conducted at the highly secure Media Recovery Operations Center.
